Creative Direction • Editorial Design • Print Production | 2018 - 2021
In 2019, theLand launched as a print magazine built around a citywide drop model. Readers tracked distribution locations through Twitter and Instagram, turning coffee shops and record stores across Los Angeles into instant pickup points. The result was part publication, part scavenger hunt, and a loud rebuttal to the idea that “print is dead.”As Creative Director and Art Director, I led the visual identity and production of the magazine from concept through distribution. I designed the publication’s layout and typography systems, established its visual language, and oversaw prepress and production to ensure each issue felt like a collectible object. The design pulled from DIY punk, West Coast hip-hop, and 1960s psychedelia. The goal was to create a magazine that felt rooted in Los Angeles culture while still holding the editorial credibility of a classic alt-weekly.Editorial Layouts and Design
